Nondeductible Dues

Compliance with the Tax Reform Act of 1993 requires that the portion of dues attributable to lobbying and political activities at the Local, State, and Federal levels of government be considered nondeductible for income tax purposes. This nondeductible portion must be disclosed to members on their dues invoice each year. In addition, contributions (including member dues) to NAR/HAR/RAM are not tax-deductible as charitable contributions. However, they may be tax deductible under other provisions of the Internal Revenue Code. A small portion of the RAM dues may go to fund administrative costs of the Realtors Association Of Maui Community Foundation.

REALTORS® Political Action Committee (RPAC)

Since 1969, the REALTORS® Political Action Committee (RPAC) has promoted the election of pro-REALTOR® candidates across the United States. The purpose of RPAC is clear: voluntary contributions made by REALTORS® are used to help elect candidates who understand and support their interests. These are not members’ dues; this is money given freely by REALTORS® in recognition of the importance of the political process. The REALTORS® Political Action Committee and other political fundraising are the keys to protecting and promoting the real estate industry.
