At last year's REALTORS® Association of Maui luncheon, Island Sotheby’s International Realty’s Wendy Peterson was recognized as the 2023 REALTOR® Salesperson of the Year. To anyone who knows Wendy, this award was no surprise. She is in the top 3% of Maui agents, top 110 in the state, and NAR Real Trends List as top 1.5% in the country, among other accolades in her 20-year career.

Peterson got into real estate when pushed by an artist friend named Michael Powell, then another friend, Vincent Palmeri, who was in the real estate industry. Both recognized Peterson’s knack for connecting people and always thinking about their needs. Due to her deep ties to the community, she also had personal knowledge of people wanting to sell their land or buy a home. Her move to real estate was a perfect match.'
Unlike REALTORS® who may give a client a tour of a home or property, Peterson offers her infamous “Wendy Tour” which includes a personalized tour of the island. She loves sharing her local knowledge, offering a tour that might include activities and restaurants, the history of the island, and how to get involved in the community. She says, “The best thing I can do is take them on a tour. I love showing the land and learning what makes people smile — you never know what will grab their imagination and ignite their excitement. That’s what I love about real estate.”

Peterson’s involvement in the community extends well beyond real estate. She participates on the boards of numerous cultural organizations including the Hawaiian Mission Houses and the Historic Hawaii Foundation, both dedicated to preserving the rich cultural tapestry of Hawaii. Her work with the Haleakala Conservancy and the Maui Arts and Cultural Center underscores her dedication to environmental stewardship and the arts. Her philanthropic efforts extend to the Maui Farm and the Makawao Cemetery, as well as, being a trustee for Seabury Hall and the Daughters of Hawaii, fostering education and the perpetuation of Hawaiian heritage. Her role with the Fred Baldwin Memorial Foundation and her partnership with Kaonoulu Ranch further demonstrate her investment in Maui's future.
