Introduction

County of Maui - Parks & Beaches

Many newcomers to Maui comment on the relatively smaller size of the average house compared to the ones with which they are more familiar. We explain that one reason is we don't need as much house here. Nobody gets socked in for months on end under mountains of snow, so we are less likely to develop cabin fever in the smaller quarters. Also, much of our lives here happen outdoors. It's one of the reasons why people come to live here. The weather invites us to go out and play.

To accommodate the sun seekers, beach-goers and wilderness lovers, there are County, State and Federal parks, scattered from mountain to sea, where residents and visitors alike can relax and play. There are numerous fields (never enough) for league players of assorted flavors and room, besides, for all kinds of outdoor activities. Most of them are well-maintained and easily accessible.
